San Diego

misc 1 min read

The morning after Stone Brewery started off with a fender-bender in the car park. A giant, black Challenger that was honking incessantly wasn’t conspicuous enough as someone very slowly backed into us. Still, it was a small hiccup in the schedule. We needed to get moving to make our 12 noon appointment at San Diego’s Ballast Point Brewing.

As always, all the beer nerd facts are available at BeerAmbassadors.com.

Earl and Matt at Ballast Point were great and spent a lot of time chatting with us and giving us a tour of their brewery and distillery.

Here’s a copy of their menu.
At the time they’d completely run out of their award-winning Sculpin IPA, but Matt took us across San Diego to the home brew mart where the brewery originally started where they still had 1 last keg on tap.

After Ballast Point we drove to Green Flash, especially loved their IPA.

We rounded off our last day in southern California watching the Lakers game at Pizza Port in Calsbad.

The next morning we did a little celebrity-watching when we spotted Mark “The Poo” Philippoussis enjoying a breakfast burrito at Pipes Cafe in Cardiff.

So long California, next stop - Denver…
