privacy
This is a personal blog. I’m not selling anything and I don’t run ads. The only data collection here is light-touch Google Analytics, and only if you say yes.
what is collected
If you accept the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 records:
- Page views and the order you visit them in
- Where you came from (referrer)
- Approximate location (country / region — derived from your IP, which is then discarded)
- Device class and browser
It does not record your name, email, exact IP address, or anything that identifies you personally. There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting.
If you reject the banner, none of this happens — no cookies are set and no data leaves
your browser. The banner remembers your choice in localStorage so you aren’t asked
again.
why
Honestly, just to see which posts land. If something resonates I might write more of it; if something gets ignored I won’t waste my time. That’s the whole motivation.
who processes it
Google LLC processes the data on my behalf as the GA4 provider. I have IP anonymisation enabled and ad-related signals disabled. Data is retained for 14 months (GA4 default) and then deleted automatically.
changing your mind
You can withdraw consent any time using the cookies link in the footer of every page. That re-opens the banner and lets you switch your choice. Rejecting clears the behaviour going forward; existing GA cookies expire on their own (or you can clear them in your browser).
